Jill Huseby – Obit

Jill Huseby, 87, passed away on January 15th 2019 at River Bend Senior Living Center, Rochester, MN under hospice care.  

She was born March 3, 1931 in Birkenhead, England, to Elizabeth and Thomas Wood.  She attended school in Birkenhead, England and spent several years working as a telephone operator.  Jill met and married Lowell Huseby when he was with the U. S. Air force in England.  They were married on June 5th 1954, at the Bidston Parish Church in Birkenhead, England.  They returned to the U.S. that year when Lowell was stationed at Edwards AFB, CA and started a family.

After Lowell’s career ended in the Air Force in 1970, they settled down with their two sons in Hendrum, MN where Jill became a lifelong resident.   Jill worked as a teachers’ aid in the Hendrum Elementary School for 15 years.  She was an active member in the Immanuel Lutheran Church where she enjoyed quilting, reading lessons, and helping out in the church kitchen.  Jill enjoyed knitting as a hobby and loved making gifts for family and friends. She was a member of the Ladies Red Hats and will always be remembered for her warm smile and kind personality.

She leaves behind 2 sons, Don Huseby of Rochester, Greg Huseby of Seattle WA, 2 nephews David Lee, Wales, and Steve Lee of Alberta, Canada.  She was preceded in death by her husband Lowell and her only sister Betty Lee of Wales. The funeral will be held at 11:00 a.m., Thursday, January 24, 2019, at Immanuel Lutheran Church, Hendrum, MN. Visitation is scheduled for one hour before the service at the church. Burial will take place at Immanuel Lutheran Cemetery, rural Hendrum, MN. Arrangements with Fredrikson-Ganje Funeral Home.
