John Audette – Obit

John Audette, 90 of Mentor, MN passed away on January 26, 2022, at Riverview Hospital in Crookston, MN.

The funeral service will be held at 1:00 PM on Wednesday, February 2, 2022, at Johnson Funeral Service in Red Lake Falls, MN with Father Bob Schreiner Officiating. Burial will be held at St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery in Red Lake Falls, MN. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service on Wednesday at the funeral home.

John Joseph Audette was born November 29, 1931, at Red Lake Falls, MN son of Clifford and Anna (Mayhew) Audette a French Canadian descendant. He was raised in Red Lake Falls and attended St. Joseph Catholic School. He began working as a beer truck driver taking a route from Red Lake Falls to Duluth and back. He also worked road construction, beekeeper, worked for Garden Valley as a pole climber, and the last years was a cabinet maker and electrician for Homarck, retiring from there in the early 1990s. In 1993 he moved to Mentor where he has since resided.

He was a member of the Sportsman Club and the trap club in Red Lake Falls, he also enjoyed fishing, hunting, trapping, cutting, and splitting wood, and always had a big garden. He was into snowmobiling and 3-wheeling/4-wheeling.

While he lived in Red Lake Falls he took care of the clubhouse for the golf course. He was a blood donor and gave until he was too old to donate. John loved to spend time in the country helping his grandpa and later uncles with cattle and farming. He became a grandchild taxi and loved spending time with them.

John is survived by his children Alan Audette of Erskine, MN and Susan Audette of Mentor, MN; grandchildren Kenny, Sam, and Jody Trandem, AnnMarie Haugen, and Nicholas Audette; great-grandchildren Brock and Hunter Trandem, brother-in-law Lawrence Leach; along with nephews and cousins.

John is preceded in death by his parents Clifford and Anna Audette, sister Gloriann Leach.
