John Mark Onstad – Obit

John Onstad, age 56, of Ada, MN, died Monday, May 2, 2022 at Sanford Hospital on Broadway, Fargo, ND.

John Mark Onstad, the son of Orville and Verona (Fetting) Onstad, was born on November 26, 1965, in Ada, MN.  John grew up in Ada and was fortunate to have the opportunity to reside, along with his sister, Lisa, in their original family home for his entire life.  As a teenager, John started working at the local Grocery Store and after graduating from Ada High school, John began his career at Ralph’s Grocery.  Over the years, he spent most of his time working in the dairy and frozen foods area of the store.  He truly loved his job and cherished the many wonderful relationships he made with co-workers and patrons.  Although he retired about ten years ago due to limited mobility, John’s hands were never idle.  He was a talented woodworker and always had a project in the works.  John and Lisa made various organizers, flag cases, and a variety of wooden board games.  They loved going to craft sales and street fairs where they proudly sold their crafts. Until his recent hospitalization, John spent many years enjoying his snowmobile travels and fishing excursions. He made many wonderful trips to West Silent Lake each summer.  John’s friendly personality and his tender smile touched many people in the community and will be remembered forever.

John is survived by his sister, Lisa Onstad of Ada; his brother, Alan; and three nieces.  He was preceded in death by his parents.

A Memorial service will be held at 10:30 am on Friday, May 6, 2022, at Grace Lutheran Church, Ada, MN.
