JUNE SHAVER ESTATE ANNOUNCES 2020 GIFTS TO CROOKSTON HIGH SCHOOL AND COMMUNITY ORGANIZATIONS

The June Shaver Estate on Wednesday announced the 2020 gifts to the Crookston High School and other Crookston Community Organizations from the estate.  Shaver passed away in 2014, and the estate has donated In Shaver’s honor ever since.

Annette Hegg, the trustee for the estate, said Shaver was a great saver who cared for the young people in the community.  “June worked for the Northwestern Clinic, for I’ve forgotten (how many) years, but I worked for her for over 30 years,” said Hegg. “She was a great saver.  She was never married, but the young people, the youth, was her love.  She really did give them all of her time when it came to different sports events; she was right there cheering them on.  She pretty much lost her eyesight but still went to the games.  The money being given now to the different organizations pretty much tells how much she cared for the young people.”

The following entities will receive $13,764 apiece –
The Crookston Pirates Athletic Boosters
Crookston Pirates Fine Arts Boosters
Crookston High School Health Care Scholarship Fund
RiverView Foundation
Crookston Community Theatre
Crookston Civic Music League
Crookston Care and Share
An additional $4,019 will be given to the Crookston High School Drama Club, with the total gift to the community being $100,466.

Shaver not only saved but figured everything out about how she wanted her estate handled after her passing, according to Hegg, who said it goes to show how much she loved our kids. “It’s a lot, and it goes to show she loved our kids,” said Hegg. “She had it all worked out herself.  She knew how to use that pencil, so it was all planned by her.  It made our job a lot easier, and it’s been every year.”

Hegg also gave credit for the success of the estate to be able to donate such a large amount to Dave Aamoth and Edward Jones, who manages the estate.

LtR: Greg Garmen, David Aamoth, Brian Halos, Ray Lutovsky, Elaine Metzger, Beth Carlson, Annette Hegg
