On Friday, January 3 at approximately 10:50 p.m., officers of the Grand Forks Police Department were dispatched to a weapons violation in the area of the Ramada, 1250 North 43rd Street.
Initial investigation of the incident revealed that a firearm was discharged in the parking lot of the Ramada. Two victims were transported to Altru by private vehicle with what appear to be non-life-threatening injuries.
Two subjects, attempting to flee the area, were detained near the scene. Further investigation led to one being placed under arrest for Attempted Murder. Due to the nature of the ongoing investigation, there is potential for additional criminal charges. The male and female victims, as well as the male suspect from this incident, have been identified, and all are juveniles. A second juvenile male suspect is in custody and has been charged with attempted murder. Due to the nature of all parties being juveniles, their names will not be released.
The investigation of the incident is ongoing, but these groups of subjects were known to each other, and there is no known threat to the public. Anyone with further information or who may have witnessed the incident is encouraged to contact the Grand Forks Police Department.
