Katherine Geist Wins 8th Straight Meet

Crookston High School’s Katherine Geist won her eighth straight meet of the season when she won the Swain Cross Country meet in Duluth.  There were 197 runners in the Class A girls race and Katherine won the race with a time of 19:10, 30 seconds better than the runner-up, Ava Hill of Mesabi East.  The first place finish is Katherine’s eighth victory in a row as she continues her outstanding start to her junior season.    Crookston’s Emily Gillette finished 155th place with a time of 25:56.  ” Emily and Katherine both did great. A big race win for Katherine seeing 28 northern and metro schools. That is eight victories in a row. Wow!,” said Coach Kirk Misialek. “Time was very good considering conditions. It was a tough course (hills), damp, and cool. The course was slippery and wet. Emily ran her usual race and was first to admit the hills were trouble.”
The girls will run at the Northwest Conference meet in Warroad on Tuesday.
