KENNEDY BRIDGE IN EGF WILL OPEN TO FOUR LANES

The Minnesota Department of Transportation (MnDOT) has announced that the Kennedy Bridge in East Grand Forks will open to four lanes by the end of this week. The Kennedy Bridge has been under construction as part of a two-year reconstruction project, with traffic reduced to one lane in each direction.
The temporary barrier that separates eastbound and westbound traffic will remain in place for the winter and removed in 2019 once final pavement markings are completed.
Work will resume in the spring when the weather allows and should be completed by early summer. There are no detours and/or long-term traffic restrictions anticipated in 2019, but motorists can expect temporary traffic restrictions as crews finish up the project.
The Kennedy Bridge was built in 1963 and serves 23,000 vehicles per day. Along with preserving the historic nature of the bridge, the project improves safety for motorists, pedestrians, and bicyclists.
The $15.66 million project is a joint design of MnDOT, the North Dakota Department of Transportation and the Federal Highway Administration. Visit the project website at mndot.gov/d2/projects/kennedybridge for more information.
MnDOT said they appreciate the public’s patience, support and commitment to safety during all phases of construction.
