Kent Johnson To Retire After 34 Years

Polk County Commissioners met on Tuesday and authorized the Sheriff’s Office to enter into a joint powers agreement with the Minnesota Bureau of Criminal Apprehension.  They also approved the hiring of a nutrition consultant and Nurse Consultant for Polk County Public Health for another year.
Michelle Cote, of property records, was given the approval to advertise for an administrative assistant 1 to replace one who will retire at the end of the year.
Kent Johnson, Polk County Social Services Director has submitted his retirement resignation for the end of August.  “I have been with Polk County for 34 years starting in August of 1984,” said Johnson. “I had my last meeting with the Social Service Board and I will work until the end of August.  Lots of things have gone full circle in philosophy and lots of good things with many challenges over the years, many successful and some not. We have a big department and a huge number of programs to administer, great employees, talented, dedicated and hardworking people along with the other agencies we work with.” Johnson said he will take a few months and reflect and probably add another career before he calls it quits.
The commissioners will meet again Tuesday, August 28 at 8 a.m. to discuss work session topics.
