Kevin August Berhow, 65, of Fertile, MN died on Saturday, May 10, 2025 at Fair Meadow Nursing Home in Fertile. He was born on February 23, 1960 to Leon “Bud” and Corrine (Gudvangen) Berhow in Crookston, MN. Kevin was baptized and confirmed at Varnes Lutheran Church, where he was a lifelong member. He graduated from Fertile-Beltrami High School in 1979. Kevin lived a life filled with love, family, and a deep appreciation for the great outdoors.

Kevin started out working for his dad, Bud, in construction; he then worked for Master Feeds in Fertile, Polaris in Roseau, MN, farming for Jim Todahl in Fertile, grading roads for Liberty and Garfield townships, New Flyer in Crookston, MN, took care of Diane for many years during her illness, and in the last years, working for Luther Berhow farming.
On July 24, 1993, Kevin was united in marriage to Diane Johnson at Varnes Lutheran Church in Fertile. They lived in Fertile before moving to Salol, MN where they both worked at Polaris and then moved back to Fertile, where he lived until his death. He was always willing and ready to help any family and friends with their many projects. One of the things in the last years that Kevin enjoyed was going with Kyle up to the new cabin site to help get it ready for the new cabin. He also spent many hours sitting at his counter having coffee with Randy, Wayne and Jordyn, Dan and Barry Wilkins, Dean Gudvangen, Howard Gudvangen, as well as anyone else who wanted to stop by.
Kevin was an avid hunter and fisherman. He spent many years on the water fishing with his brothers Randy and Wayne. He loved to hunt and would take anyone who wanted to come along to his deer stand. He was happy to help Katy with her first deer. He helped Kyle, Bubba and Barry with food plots as well as maintaining his own plot. He enjoyed hunting and fishing with Kyle and Seth in the last few years. This last year he was able to go ice fishing with Howard Gudvangen and with Kyle as a host for Veterans Ice Fishing which is where local ice fisherman would host a veteran and invite them to use their fish houses and fishing gear. Kevin had a profound love for fishing and the outdoors, often finding solace and joy in nature’s beauty.
His skills as a carpenter were not just a profession but a true expression of his creativity and dedication. He took pride in his work, and his craftsmanship will be remembered by all.
Kevin was devoted to his family and cherished by his siblings, Debbie Berhow, Carline Berhow, Darlene (Kevin) Solie, and Randy Berhow, all of Fertile; one aunt, Doris Michaels, one uncle, Maynard Gudvangen; nephews, Kyle (Fallon) Solie, Chris Berhow, and Travis Berhow; nieces, Alicia (Mike Elbinger) Berhow, Krystal (Brandon) Tranby, Katy Rolland, Lacey (Donny Liden) Berhow, Kelsey (Chris Crump) Berhow, and Jordyn Berhow; several great nieces and nephews; and lots of cousins. He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Diane; one brother, Wayne Berhow; and one niece, Tracey Berhow. Each of these individuals played a significant role in shaping the man Kevin became, and their memories will continue to live on in the hearts of those who knew him.
As we remember Kevin, we will remember a life well-lived, and a life marked by kindness, hard work, and a deep love for family. He will be dearly missed but will forever remain in our hearts and memories.
