KEVIN CORONA FOUND COMPETENT TO STAND TRIAL IN ATTEMPTED MURDER OF HIS MOM

Kevin Corona, 36 of Crookston, has been found competent in the attempted murder case against him stemming from an incident on March 3, 2023.
Corona is charged with first-degree premeditated attempted murder, second-degree intentional attempted murder, and first-degree assault causing great bodily harm after allegedly stabbing and strangling his mother, Angie Gonzalez. Each charge has a maximum sentence of 20 years in prison. Corona is also charged with second-degree assault with a dangerous weapon and felony domestic assault.

An order was issued back in June to evaluate Corona for competency, mental illness, and cognitive impairment. He was found competent to proceed, and his next hearing is scheduled for 9:00 a.m. on August 31.
