Kevin Emmett Fee – OBIT

Kevin Emmett Fee, 66, of Grand Forks, North Dakota, entered into eternity on Friday, February 6, 2026, surrounded by those he loved.

Kevin was born on October 27, 1959, at United Hospital in Grand Forks, to Raymond and Mabel Fee (Wylie). He grew up in a large family with four brothers and three sisters. He graduated from Grand Forks Central High School in 1978 and went on to attend the University of Minnesota Crookston and the University of North Dakota.

After college, he married Renee Borowicz on May 5, 1984, at Assumption Catholic Church in Florian, Minnesota. Kevin and Renee were blessed with three daughters: Ashleigh, Katie, and Rebecca. He loved being a dad, especially playing sports with his girls and cheering them on at practices as well as games.

He began his career at the Grand Forks Herald as a sportswriter and later served as sports editor: covering the Flood of 1997 (for which the Herald won a Pulitzer Prize), multiple Olympic Games, and the World Junior Championships, among many other events. In recognition of his professional accomplishments, he was inducted into the University of Minnesota Crookston Hall of Fame and received multiple sportswriter awards, including the NDHSCA Award of Merit. After leaving the Herald, he worked in communications at Minnkota Power for ten years before retiring.

In retirement, Kevin spent his time traveling with his wife and family, working part-time at Ray Richards Golf Course, as well as doing some freelance reporting for the Herald. He also made time to volunteer with the Red Cross, St. Joseph’s Social Care, and Habitat for Humanity. On top of it all, he was someone who never missed a game. He loved watching his grandkids’ sporting events, the Packers, and Notre Dame football games.

He is survived by his loving wife, Renee; his daughters, Ashleigh (Joe) Zimmer and their children Brady, Peyton, and Vada; Katie (Mark) Henke and their children, Hutton and Hayes; and Rebecca (Luke) Schulz and their children, Miller and Teddy. He is also survived by his brothe,r Frank (Jeanette) and his sisters, Pat (Marc) Macomber, Peggy (Juan) Hernandez, and Penny (Tim) Tandeski.

He is preceded in death by his father, Raymond; his mother, Mabel; and his brothers, Rick, Tim, and Daryl.

Memorial Mass: 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, February 10, 2026, in St. Michael’s Catholic Church, Grand Forks, ND.
Family Greeting and Wake: 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. with a 7:00 p.m. Vigil Service Monday, February 9, 2026, in the Norman Funeral Home. Family Greeting will continue for one hour prior to the liturgy in the church on Tuesday.
Interment: In the spring of 2026.
