KITTSON COUNTY CENTRAL PULLS AWAY FOR 81-73 VICTORY OVER SACRED HEART

The Sacred Heart Eagles Girls Basketball team fell to the Kittson County Central Bearcats, 81-73, in the Section 8A Semifinals at the Ralph Englestad Arena.

FIRST HALF –
In the first half, McKinley Folland got a basket inside for the Bearcats as she tied it up at two. Leah Sundby knocked down a three for Sacred Heart to make it 7-6 with the Eagles in the lead. Finley Horken hit a three for the Eagles to make it 10-6. Lexi Lawrence then hit a jumper for the Eagles to make it 12-6 and force a Bearcat timeout. Sundby connected on another three for the Eagles as their lead went up to 17-7. Kaydence White then got an and one for Kittson County Central to make it 17-12 with the Eagles still leading. Lexi Lawrence got a basket down low to make it 25-14 with Sacred Heart in the lead. Lydia Riskey got a steal and a layup for Sacred Heart to make it 29-16. Isabelle Vonesh connected on a three to make it 32-16 with Sacred Heart in the lead. Greta Kuznia hit a triple for the Bearcats to make it 36-25 with Sacred Heart leading. The Bearcats would use a run, forcing multiple Sacred Heart turnovers to make it 36-35. Riskey connected on a three to make it 39-35. Berlyn Strege got a layup late in the first half to make it 41-39 to give Kittson County Central the lead at the half.

SECOND HALF –
Opening the half, Sundby hit a quick three to make it 42-41 with Sacred Heart in the lead. Kaydence White got a short shot in the post to fall to make it 45-42 with Kittson County Central in the lead. Kuznia hit another three for the Bearcats to extend their lead to 52-45. Kuznia hit a long two-pointer to add to the Bearcats lead. Sundby responded with a three to draw the Eagles within six at 55-49. Horken hit a three for the Eagles to put the game at 56-52 with Kittson County Central still in the lead. Morgan Turn got a layup for Kittson County Central to make it 60-52. Riskey got a layup for the Eagles as they pulled within four again. Later in the half, Turn hit a three for the Bearcats as they went up 73-64. Horken hit a three to make it 75-70 as the Bearcats were still in the lead. Sundby hit a three to make it 77-73, but Kittson County Central made their free throws late to give the Bearcats an 81-73 win. 

Kittson County Central advances to the Section 8A Girls Basketball Championship Game on Friday night. Sacred Heart’s season comes to a close with a 24-5 record. Sacred Heart has one senior, Isabel Vonesh.
