KRESSIN WINS THREE EVENTS AS CROOKSTON TRACK “HOSTS” THE PIRATE INVITE AT EGF

The Crookston Pirate Girls and Boys Track teams “hosted” the Crookston Pirate Invitational Track meet at East Grand Forks and there were a lot of good teams while the girls finished sixth out of 14 teams with East Grand Forks winning the meet.  The Pirate boys finished 12th out of 14 teams with Hillsboro-Central Valley edging East Grand Forks to win the boys division.

GIRLS
The Pirate girls were led by Breanna Kressin with three first-place finishes.  Breanna won the 100 meters with a time of 12.89, almost a second better than her teammate and runner-up, Cassie Solheim.   Kressin also won the 100-meter hurdles, almost two seconds better than the runner-up.  To finish out her dominating performance, Breanna won the 300 hurdles.  She not only won, but she crushed the competition and won the race by almost three seconds.  Kressin accounted for 30 of Crookston’s 63 points in the meet.

Cassie Solheim had two top-three finishes with the previously mentioned second-place finish in the 100 meters and a third-place finish in the triple jump with a jump of 14 feet 10 inches.
Halle Winjum had her best vault of the year with a vault of eight feet to finish fourth place in the pole vault.  Wrapping up the top four finishes, Isabelle Smith had a solid performance in the 100 hurdles with a time of 17.86 to finish fourth place.

BOYS
The Pirates were missing several members of the team, including spring two-sport athlete Ethan Boll who played baseball at home against Sacred Heart.  One athlete that has performed well in every meet so far this year is Carter Coauette.  Carter finished third in the 400 meters with a time of 55.44 seconds.
Thor Harbott was the only other Pirate to finish in the top four with a fourth-place finish in the 1600 meters with a time of 15:10.

Crookston will be back in action on Saturday at the Thief River Falls meet.
