The following is from KROX Radio owner/operator Chris Fee.
On Thursday night, I voiced my opinion on our video stream and in our boy’s basketball game recap online about a decision to discipline a Pirate boy’s basketball player too harshly in my eyes.
Now that I have calmed down. I want to apologize for using the broadcast and the game story as a way to call out the administration. It wasn’t professional and not the place to do it. I have received words of support, and what the heck are you doing? The people asking what the heck are you doing are correct. It was a mistake, and I am sorry for my unprofessional actions. I still don’t know why this subject got me so fired up.
I want to apologize to the administration involved. They have a tough job, and to have somebody sitting in the cheap seats questioning their decisions loudly as I did is not one I usually take, and I sincerely regret doing this on Thursday night.
I have a rule because I can get fired up over little things to wait 24 hours to take action and let my emotions calm down. I didn’t do this on Thursday night. I apologize to the administration. While I still don’t agree with the extent of the punishment, thinking it was too strict, how I went about it was not the right away and unprofessional. Using KROX wasn’t a suitable or professional way to express my opinion in this case.
I will apologize to the administration in person when we can meet sometime soon.
Again, I apologize for using the KROX media forms to get my opinion out. It was unprofessional, and I will try not to do it again. We are a news organization, and people depend on us to give them the news. Not to promote our opinions.
KROX listeners, viewers, and website visitors, along with Crookston School District administration, expect and deserve better than they got Thursday night.
With sincerest apologies to everyone,
Chris Fee
