POLK COUNTY HAS 8 NEW COVID CASES FOR A TOTAL OF 104

Polk County has surpassed 100 positive COVID-19 tests with eight new cases reported today for a total of 104.

Polk County Public Health Director Sarah Reese said the positive cases were in people in the 50’s and younger. “We have identified a couple of people that participated in the Grand Forks testing event, and we know there has been an uptick in people being tested for various reasons because they have been deemed close contact,” said Reese. “The age ranges are from the teens to the 50’s and were a combination of males and females at different locations throughout Polk County.”

The increase in positive cases could be from the Independence Day gatherings. “The cases all had different scenarios.  It is reasonable to believe that there is still a connection to holiday festivities and there is also community spread so we know COVID is circulating in our area.  People should take precautions of wearing our masks, washing our hands, and keep good social distancing.”

KROX also spoke with Reese about the new state face-covering mandate issued by Governor Tim Walz.  For the full interview, click below.
