The Climax-Fisher Knights Volleyball team’s 6’1 Junior, Peyton Hoffman, recorded the 1,000th career kill in the third set to help lead her team to an impressive 3-0 (25-13, 25-18, 25-12) victory over the Lake Park-Audubon Raiders in a match played in Lake Park on Tuesday night.
FIRST SET
The teams were tied 3-3 to start the match, and Climax-Fisher led 6-5 before going on a 6-0 run. Brooklyn Hoffman started the run with a kill and after an LPA attack error, Peyton Schroeder and Brooklyn Hoffman added kills. After an LPA attack went out of bounds, Emma Schulte served an ace for a 12-5 lead. The Knights led 16-11 when they finished the set on a 9-2 run that started on kills from Peyton Hoffman and Kinley Korynta. The run continued with a kill each from Schroeder, Schulte, and Brooklyn Hoffman, and two service aces from Peyton Hoffman, and the Knights won the set 25-13 on an LPA four-hit call.
SECOND SET
LPA started the second set on a 5-1 run, and Climax-Fisher responded by going on an 8-4 run that was capped by a Schulte ace to tie the set at 9-9. There was another tie at 10-10 before Climax-Fisher’s Brooklyn Hoffman started an 11-3 run with a kill. After an LPA error, Kinley Korynta had a kill and two LPA errors and a point, Lexie Korynta had a kill. After another LPA error, Climax-Fisher’s Peyton Hoffman had a block, Kinley Korynta, and Peyton Hoffman added kills. After another LPA error, the Knights had two more kills for a 21-13 lead. The Knights cruised the rest of the way to a 25-18 victory to take a 2-0 lead in the match.
THIRD SET
The teams traded points to start the set and LPA had a 2-1 lead when Peyton Hoffman blasted a kill to tie the set at 2-2. The kill was the 1,000th kill of Hoffman’s career. After a celebration stoppage, LPA scored a point for a 3-2 lead before Climax-Fisher took over by going on a 10-1 run. LPA had a serve in the net before Peyton Schroeder and Brooklyn Hoffman had kills and Schulte added two more for a 7-3 lead. The run continued with Brooklyn Hoffman adding two more kills, along with another kill from Schroeder and a few LPA errors for a 12-4 lead. Climax-Fisher continued to dominate, leading 24-12, when Schulte smashed a kill to win the set 25-12 and the match 3-0.
Climax-Fisher improves to 8-2 on the year and will take on Park Christian on Thursday. Lake Park-Audubon drops to 4-6 on the year.
