Lee Eken – Obit

Lee Eken, age 64, of rural Ada, MN, died Thursday, February 10, 2022, at his home.

Lee Roger Eken was born December 2, 1957 to Willis and Betty (Skaurud) Eken in Ada, MN. Lee was raised and attended school in Twin Valley, MN, graduating with the class of 1976. Following graduation, he attended the University of Minnesota in Crookston, MN, where he earned his degree as a dairy herdsman. On October 1, 1977, Lee and Kimberly (Polaschek) Eken were united in marriage in Mahnomen, MN. Together, they welcomed a son, Chad Eken, in December 1980 and a daughter, Mikki Eken, in June 1986. The family made their home on a dairy farm southeast of Ada, where Lee and Kim worked together. After retiring from dairy farming in 1999, Lee worked for Transystems for 15 years. He also worked for Highway 9 Construction as a gravel hauler.

Lee always kept himself busy, completing odd jobs around the farm, enjoying the outdoors, and would often spend lots of time hiking and biking many trails and parks. During the last few months, he enjoyed spending time with his dog, Toby. His best smiles came from his granddaughter, Eleanor, who he shared a close bond with. Time spent with his loved ones was always cherished. He will be loved and dearly missed by all who knew him.

Lee is survived by his mother, Betty Eken of Twin Valley, MN; his children, Chad (Kjell) Eken of Mountain Lake, MN, and Mikki Eken (Tim Wilson) of Fargo, ND; granddaughter, Eleanor Eken of Mountain Lake, MN; brothers, Loren (Deb) Eken of Twin Valley and Kent (Lori) Eken of Audubon, MN; and many nieces and nephews.

He is preceded in death by his father, Willis Eken; and brother, Kyle Eken.

In lieu of flowers, family is requesting monetary donations made to a charity of choice in Lee’s honor. Any donations made to Lee’s family will go to the Norman County 4H Club, which was very near and dear to his heart.

Memorial services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, February 19, 2022 at Anderson Family Funeral Home, Twin Valley. Time of gathering will be held two hours prior to the service at the funeral home.

Please feel free to sign the guestbook, send condolences and view other opportunities which may be available.
