The governor announced this week that industrial, manufacturing and office-based businesses will be able to reopen if they have safety plans in place effective this Monday. I am encouraged to hear that more of our businesses will be open and employees will be back to work this week, and I hope this will lead to even more of our businesses being allowed to safely open up soon.
This order could help as many as 100,000 Minnesotans return to work starting on Monday, April 27. Businesses must create and share a plan for keeping employees safe, conduct daily health screenings of employees upon their arrival, and continue teleworking whenever possible. The Department of Labor and Industry will have an optional template plan available to use as a start point. The Department of Employment and Economic Development will be hosting two webinars to discuss this process. More information on the webinars can be found here.
The governor also announced that schools will continue distance learning through the end of this school year. He has not yet made a decision on what school will look like this summer or in the fall.
RESOURCES FOR FARMERS
I know that many of the farmers in our community have been harmed by the COVID-19 outbreak, so I wanted to pass along some of the information I have received regarding the resources available.
In an effort to streamline access to resources, the Minnesota Department of Agriculture has created a website that includes important information for farmers. The site covers issues from questions about meat processing to mental health resources to financial support through the RFA.
