Leonard “Pete” Hagl – Obit

Leonard “Pete” Hagl, passed away on Saturday, September 12, 2020 surrounded by his loving family at Sanford Hospital in Fargo, ND.

 

Mass of Christian burial will be held on Thursday, September 17, 2020 at 4:00 PM at St. Anthony Catholic Cemetery at Terrebonne, MN with Father Bob Schreiner Officiating, Burial will be held at St. Anthony Catholic Cemetery. Visitation will be held 2-4 PM at the cemetery prior to the service.

 

Leonard Frank “Pete” Hagl was born June 5, 1936 son of Louis and Luella (Meyer) Hagl in Gervais Township near Terrebonne, MN. In 1943 the family purchased a farm in Lake pleasant Township near Red Lake Falls where he attended country school.

 

On July 22, 1959 he entered the US Army and served his country until his honorable discharge on July 21, 1961. He returned to Red Lake Falls where he was an over the road truck driver until Pete took over the family farm in 1969. They raised grain, cattle and hay..

 

On March 11, 1976 he was united in marriage to Dorothy Ducharme at Sisseton, SD.  The couple made their home in Red Lake Falls until moving out to the farm in 1986 where he has since resided.

 

Pete enjoyed hunting, fishing and having coffee everyday with his friends. Most of all he loved the annual hunting trips out west to Montana. He spent many hours tinkering in the shop. He was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church and the American legion Post #22 of Red Lake Falls, MN.

 

Pete is survived by his step-children Bonnie Pahlen of Red Lake Falls, MN, Gloria Peterson of Red Lake Falls, MN, Allen (Cindy) Ducharme of Red Lake Falls, MN; step-grandchildren Jay (Cindy) Pahlen, Gary (Beckie) Pahlen Jr., Carissa (Tim) Sigdahl, Katrina (Keith) Landman, Jamie Peterson, Jason Peterson, Sarah (Jason) Gaudry, Tina Cameron, Brenda Ducharme; brother Joseph Hagl of Red Lake Falls, MN; along with Joey DeHaan and many other nieces and nephews, step-great-grandchildren.

 

He is preceded in death by his wife Dorothy December 24, 1990, parents Louis and Luella Hagl, siblings James Vickery, Theresa Cardinal, Josephine DeHaan, Harvey Hagl, Elizabeth Sauve, Alfred Hagl, Margaret Kehn, step-son-in-law Gary Pahlen Sr.. step-son Dale Ducharme.
