Linda Tvedt – Obit

Linda Tvedt of Crookston, MN formerly of Red Lake Falls, MN passed away on Thursday, June 2, 2022 surrounded by her loving family at the Villa St. Vincent in Crookston.

Mass of Christian burial will be held 11:00 AM June 10, 2022 at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Red Lake Falls, MN with Father MSGR Timothy McGee Officiating. Burial will be held at a later date at St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery in Red Lake Falls, MN.

Visitation will be held on Thursday, 5 – 7 PM with a prayer service at 7:00 PM at Johnson Funeral Service in Red Lake Falls, MN and also one hour prior to the service on Friday.

Linda Theresa Cardinal was born on June 5, 1952 at Chisholm, MN daughter of Elmer and Theresa (Hagl) Cardinal. The family moved to Red Lake Falls in June of 1968. Linda Graduated from Lafayette High School in 1970. She worked at Arctic Cat in Karlstad, MN.

On August 7, 1971 she was united in marriage to James Tvedt at St. Joseph Catholic Church. Following their marriage they continued to reside in Red Lake Falls. Linda was a stay at home mom raising their 4 children Jennifer, Janelle, Jill and Joanie. She had an in home daycare for many years. She also worked at the Barn Café in Red Lake Falls. She worked at the Small World Learning Center until her retirement.

She enjoyed spending time with her family, ceramics, needle work, canning and crafting. Camping and traveling with her family, was a Girl Scout leader and cookie mom for over 30 years. She was a member of the Homemakers in Red Lake Falls, MN.

Linda is survived by daughters Jennifer and Clayton Bakken, of Mentor, MN, Jill and Bernie DeHate, Plummer, MN and Joanie and Patrick Simpson of Plummer, MN; grandchildren Blake (Emily) DeHate, Katheryne (Michael) DeHate, Kara Longtin, Brandie (Trey) DeHate, Heather Longtin, Paul DeHate, Skylar Longtin, Nevaeh Simpson; great-grandchildren Kennedy and Carter. Sister Janice (Fred) Landman, brothers Roger (Sally) Cardinal, David Cardinal, Dean (Sandy Derosier) Cardinal, Jay (Carla) Cardinal; in-laws Sonny “Henry” (Florence) Tvedt, Kenny Tvedt, John (Mary) Tvedt along with many nieces and nephews.

Linda is preceded in death by her husband Jim in 2004, daughter Janelle in 2021, parents Elmer and Theresa. Siblings Joyce Wright, Karen Audette; in-laws, Jim’s parents Henry and Rose, brother’s-in-law  Ole Tvedt, Joe Tvedt,  infant brother Jerome, sister-in-law Marilyn Tvedt, nephew Marvin Tvedt,  great-niece’s Heather Tvedt-German, Mary Landman.
