Lisa Lynn (Ortloff) Meine – OBIT

Lisa Lynn Meine passed on to be with her Lord and Savior Jesus on May 11, 2024. She had a brief battle with pancreatic cancer and passed away with her loving husband and children by her side at home.

Lisa lived most of her life in Crookston, MN, where she was born and raised. She was born on February 18, 1967, to Orville and Arlene (Johnson) Ortloff. She and her future husband, Will (Willard) attended the same high school. She graduated in 1985. They married November 22, 1986, in Crookston and immediately moved to Orlando, FL, for Will to attend Navy training. During their time serving as a military family, they lived in Idaho Falls and Blackfoot, ID and in San Diego, CA. While in California, they adopted their first child, Angelica, whom Lisa lovingly (and patiently) homeschooled. Lisa and Will were also very involved in children’s church ministry during this time.

Upon returning to Crookston, Lisa and Will felt the call to adopt more children into their family. They had a strong desire to adopt a sibling group rather than have them be split. They first became foster parents and an emergency placement of three siblings resulted in falling in love with them and adopting Katrina, David and Dominic.

In Crookston, Lisa worked with vulnerable adults for REM. She later took a position in medical records for RiverView Health and then moved to a patient access representative position. At the time of her passing, she worked as the office manager for Proulx Refrigeration and Heating in Crookston and considered them like family.

Lisa had a deep love for teaching children and enjoyed sharing her faith with them. She lived out this devotion by working in the children’s ministry at Mission Bay Christian Fellowship in San Diego, Valley Christian Fellowship in Crookston, and Freedom Church in Crookston. She was also instrumental in many support ministry positions within the fledgling campus of Freedom Church. Lisa loved Jesus and her family. She treasured time spent with her grandchildren. She also became an instant friend to almost everyone she met.

Lisa was preceded in death by her parents and her brother (Reed). She is survived by her husband, Will, children Angelica (Jed) Shanley, Katrina Oswald, David (Ariel Netland) Meine, and Dominic Meine. She was blessed with seven grandchildren in her life: Jocelyn Midboe, Maximus Shanley, Joseph Shanley, Emmalynn Meine, Olivia Oswald, Haleena Oswald and Declan Meine. Other important family members include beloved brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law and treasured nephews and nieces.

Visitation with Lisa’s family will be held from 5-7:00 p.m., Monday, May 20th, 2024 in Freedom Church, 101 West 2nd Street, Crookston, MN with a 7:00 p.m. prayer service and time of sharing. The service will be livestreamed by going to Lisa’s obituary page at www.stenshoelhouske.com and clicking on the prompt to view.

The Memorial Service in Celebration of Lisa’s Life will be held at Freedom Church, 308 DeMers Avenue, Grand Forks, ND, 58201, on Tuesday, May 21st, 2024 at 2:00 p.m. with Pastor Joel Schwartz, officiating. Visitation will be for one hour prior to the service. Livestreaming will be available on the Church’s web page at
