LOCAL FUNERAL DIRECTOR ELECTED PRESIDENT OF MINNESOTA FUNERAL DIRECTORS ASSOCIATION

Chris Jacobson of Fredrikson-Ganje Funeral Homes in Ada, Minn. is the newly elected President of the Minnesota Funeral Directors Association (MFDA) Board of Directors for 2019-2020. MFDA is the only state resource dedicated to supporting its member’s growth professionally, ethically, and operationally. Their mission is to enhance and support funeral service excellence through programs, legislative representation, and service to Minnesotans.

Jacobson was elected to office at MFDA’s 129th Annual Convention held May 20-22, at the Mayo Civic Center in Rochester, Minn.  This year’s convention attracted more than 200 attendees and provided professional development through workshops, guest speakers, and trade show exhibits.

Jacobson grew up in Two Harbors, Minn., graduating from Two Harbors High School in 2002. While attending Lake Superior College, Jacobson worked in the health field as a CNA.  On May 15, 2010, Jacobson married Laura Doty in Duluth. The celebrating did not end there. He graduated from Lake Superior College two days later earning an associate degree. Soon after graduation, Jacobson and Laura moved to Cincinnati, OH where together, they attended the Cincinnati College of Mortuary Science (CCMS) and Jacobson earned his bachelor’s in mortuary science. While at CCMS, Jacobson was the president of the school’s fraternity and graduated with honors.

Since graduating, Jacobson has held positions throughout Minnesota including Ada, Cloquet, and Duluth. While in Duluth, he managed Bell Brothers and Jarvi Dowd Funeral Homes for four years until their sale in 2019. In March, Jacobson returned to Ada where he is serving families at Fredrikson-Ganje Funeral Homes. Chris is a member of the Minnesota Funeral Directors Association and National Funeral Directors Association.
