Loren Gene Olson, 70, passed away peacefully on May 15, 2025, surrounded by family at his home in Erskine, MN. Loren was born May 10, 1955, to Gerald and Dorothy (Dauner) Olson and grew up on the family farm south of Ada.

Loren graduated high school from Ada, MN in 1974 and married his high school sweetheart, Patricia (Patty) Ann Olson on July 3, 1976, at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Ada, MN. He enjoyed working in agriculture, whether it was helping on the farm, owning Olson’s Diesel and Tire Repair for 21 years, or assisting farmers as a parts manager at several locations. He ended his career as Maintenance Manager for Essentia Health-Ada until his cancer journey forced him to retire in 2020. To know him was to love him, he spent his life living and loving his family whether he was doing small projects, hunting, fishing, farming, or other outdoor activities. During his cancer journey, he was blessed to be able to take 93 honeymoons to MD Anderson in Houston, TX, where they provided him with all the care, guidance, and prayers during this time. Loren was one to count on if you needed anything fixed or tinkered with. He always showed gentleness, love and compassion to all the people he met and always was up for a good conversation. He loved to greet all the ladies with a special nickname.
Loren was a member of the Knights of Columbus at St Joseph Catholic Church in Ada, MN.
Loren is survived by his wife, Patty; two daughters, Elizabeth Thompson, Thompson, ND and Jolynn Jegtvig, Barnesville, MN; two sons, Michael (Laura) Olson, Thompson, ND, and Jonathan Olson, Grand Forks, ND; ten grandchildren, Braden, Zander and McKenna Thompson, Taylor Hanson, Makenzie Schlager, Alexis Jegtvig, and Abigail, Jacob, Alexander, and Conner Olson; two sisters, Cheryl (Ron) Johnson of Fargo, ND and Marilyn (Michael) Neville of Zalma, MO; mother-in-law, Katie Wagner of Ada, MN; in-laws, Brenda Wagner of Ada, MN, Bob (Paula) Wagner of Detroit Lakes, MN, Lisa (Byron) Chisholm of Osakis, MN, and Michelle (Greg) Peppel of Olivia, MN; along with many aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, and cousins.
