Lowell Jacobson, 84, Ada, MN, died Thursday, April 4, 2019, at Benedictine Care Community, Ada, MN.

Lowell Merlyn Jacobson, the son of Carl and Emelia (Grosfield) Jacobson, was born on April 1, 1935, on the home farm in Good Hope Township, near Shelly, MN.  He was baptized at Bethany Lutheran Church near their farm and later confirmed at Shelly Marsh River Lutheran Church.  He attended Lincoln country school before finishing high school in Halstad (MN), graduating with the class of 1953.  He then started farming, a career which lasted over 50 years until he retired.

Lowell met Gayle Lee of Ada, MN, at the LRC in Halstad during a weekend dance and they were married on July 14, 1956, at First Lutheran Church in Ada.  They settled on the family farm and lived there for 41 years, raising four children and a grandson, Nash.  They moved to Ada in 1997. After failing health, Lowell recently entered Benedictine Care Community.

Lowell was a gentle, quiet person, who valued the countryside and appreciated working the land.  He adored his family.  When he found time to relax, he enjoyed country music, especially the Grand Ole Opry.  Some of his favorite performers were Hank Williams Sr., Buck Owens and Charlie Pride.

He is survived by his wife, Gayle; his children, LeAnn (Charlie) Evenson, Prescott, WI, Bryan (Corinne) Jacobson, Fargo, ND, Karen (Kent) Hurst, Woodbury, MN, Scott Jacobson, Shelly, MN; five grandchildren, two great-grandchildren, sister-in-law, Mabel Jacobson, and several nieces and nephews, and close friends.
