Lucille Marie (Roy) Dufault was born on August 21,1929, at home in Red Lake Falls, MN to Louis and Florence Roy.  She was the oldest of twelve children and according to Lucille, there was a lot of noise in her family’s big, chaotic, loving home.

Lucille graduated from Lafayette High School and Bemidji State Teachers College.  She taught 10 years in five different rural and town schools.  Lucille felt that staying in school and finishing school is the most important thing that you can accomplish.  “Education is what gets you to the places you want to be in life”.

On June 22, 1957, Lucille married Lloyd Dufault and moved into Crookston.  They were blessed with three children: Roy, Warren and Melanie.  In 1969, they moved their family to Fosston, MN where they owned and operated Fosston Implement Company for 26 years.

As a stay at home mother and wife, Lucille excelled at baking, sewing and keeping her home.  She was active as a leader in her children’s activities.  Lucille enjoyed sharing her love of music and the arts (including theater and literature) with her family.

Lucille’s faith was very important to her.  She was an active member at St. Mary’s and was the religious education director for 25 years.  She also served as lector and communion minister, among many other roles.

Lucille passed away peacefully on Monday, May 31, 2021, at Essentia Health Living Center in Fosston at the age of 91 years.

Lucille is survived by her children, Roy (Joan) Dufault of Fosston; Warren Dufault of Grand Forks, ND; and Melanie (Roger) Bachmeier of Long Prairie, MN.  Siblings, Louis Jr. (Pauline) Roy of Minneapolis, MN; Lynn Larson of Chatfield, MN; Rae Faust of Navarre, FL; Madonna Stickel of Oelwein, IA; Philip Roy of Pittsburg, CA; Dennis (Audrey) Roy of Dilworth, MN; Tony Roy of Minneapolis, MN;  John (Mary) Roy of Des Moines, IA; and Jean (Marcel) LaJesse of Crookston, MN; and sister-in-law, Gloria Roy of Colorado; Grandchildren; Kimberly (Joe) Gudvangen; Adam (Kellie) Bachmeier; Jonathan (Sheyanne) Dufault; Suzanne Dufault; Rachel Bachmeier; David Bachmeier; Noelle Dufault; and Daniel Bachmeier.  Great-grandchildren, Braxton Gudvangen; Emery Dufault and Karsyn Dufault.
