Madi Bruggeman signs to play basketball at Mayville State

Crookston High School senior Madi Bruggeman signed a National Letter of Intent on Friday to play basketball at Mayville State University next fall.

KROX asked Madi why she chose Mayville State and she said it was the new coaching staff. “The coaches were good in staying in contact with me throughout the process,” said Bruggeman, who is looking at going into Criminal Justice.
Bruggeman had a solid junior season averaging 9 points per game, while making 49 percent (71 of 145) of her two-point shots while adding four three-pointers. She was 58 of 90 from the free throw line for 64 percent. She had 128 rebounds for over five per game, added 33 assists, 23 steals, and 20 blocks.
Madi was named All-Northwest Conference in 2025 and 2026.

Crookston High School Girls Coach Jadin Hams said Madi deserves the opportunity to play at the next level. “She works really hard, tries to improve her game every single day and she is one of the most deserving player to play at the next level,” said Coach Hams. “She will fit in good at Mayville State.”

Mayville State is in the NAIA and a member of the Frontier League, which includes Valley City State, Dakota State, Dickinson State, Montana Tech, Rocky Mountain, MSU-Northern, Carroll, Providence, Bellevue, Montana Western, and Bismarck State. Mayville State Women’s Basketball Coach Jenna Bolstad was excited to have Bruggeman joining the program next year. “We’re excited to welcome Madi to Mayville State and have her become a part of our Comet family. Madi brings length and versatility to the forward position, and she’s a high-character kid who wants to get better and compete,” said Coach Jenna Bolstad. “Those are qualities that fit what we’re building in our program. We’re excited to get her on campus, help her continue to develop both on and off the court, and see the impact she can make as a Comet!”

Mayville State will scrimmage the University of Minnesota Crookston Golden Eagles at 6:00 p.m. Friday, October 16 in Crookston. The Crookston Pirate Girls Basketball team’s first game is December 1, 2026 when they host Warren-Alvarado-Oslo.
