MAN SUFFERS NON-LIFE THREATENING INJURIES AFTER BEING STRUCK BY VEHICLE IN DRIVEWAY

On Saturday, June 22 at approximately 5:13 p.m., officers of the Grand Forks Police Department were dispatched to the 2000 block of South 20th St. for a report of a MV crash involving a passenger car striking a person and then a house. 

Initial investigation determined that a female driver, 73 yo Bonnie Scott of Grand Forks, was in control of a 1998 Chrysler Sebring that was parked in the driveway at 2002 South 20th St.  The vehicle was mistakenly put into drive while attempting to back out of the driveway.  The vehicle lurched forward striking a male pedestrian standing in the driveway.  The vehicle continued forward coming to rest against the northwest corner of the house.  The male suffered minor non-life threatening injuries and was transported to the hospital for evaluation.  No other injuries were reported.  The house sustained moderate damage that did not appear to be structural.  Scott was cited for care required.

The Grand Forks Police Department was assisted by Altru Ambulance Service and the Grand Forks Fire Department.  The Crash Analysis Reconstruction Team and also assisted in the investigation.
