Mark Andrew Anderson, beloved brother, uncle, and friend, passed away suddenly of unknown cause while bicycling with his dog on Friday, June 6, 2025, at the age of 62. Born on December 9, 1962, in Minneapolis, Minnesota, Mark was lovingly adopted by Dr. Clayton and Lila Anderson of Ada, Minnesota.
He was baptized and confirmed at Grace Lutheran Church in Ada, where his faith was rooted from an early age.
A proud graduate of Ada High School, Class of 1981, Mark went on to attend Concordia College in Moorhead and the University of North Dakota in Grand Forks. A lifelong learner, he was an avid reader with a sharp mind and a keen interest in politics, always ready for a thoughtful discussion.
Mark had a deep love for the outdoors. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, and golfing, and created many cherished memories on fishing trips to Lake of the Woods with his parents. He also enjoyed helping with the family garden and canning with his mother. Another passion of his was film. Mark was a dedicated movie enthusiast and took great pride in owning and managing the historic Orpheum Theater, where he brought stories to life for his community and shared his love of cinema with others.

He was preceded in death by his devoted parents, Dr. Clayton and Lila Anderson. He is survived by his loving brother, Paul (Michelle) Anderson of Perham, MN; nieces and nephews who brought him immense pride and joy: Maren (Andrew) Mackey of Ashland, WI, Lauren Nellie (Aidan) Neher of Minneapolis, MN, Lourdes Anderson of St. Louis Park, MN, Clayton Anderson and Kjirsten Anderson of Fargo, ND, and Bjorn Anderson of Perham, MN. He also leaves behind his faithful Golden Retriever, Speck, who was his constant and loyal companion.
Mark will be remembered for his quiet strength, dry wit, generous spirit, and the way he enriched the lives of those around him. His memory will be treasured by all who had the privilege of knowing him.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations to a local animal shelter or a literacy program, in tribute to Mark’s love for animals and reading.
