Marshall Hegreberg – Obit

Marshall Hegreberg, age 83, of Ada formerly of Borup, Minnesota, passed away peacefully at Moorhead Rehab Center under the care of Hospice of the Red River Valley on Monday, December 5, 2022.

Marshall Duane Hegreberg was born on January 16, 1939, in Ada, MN, to Edgar and Marvella (Eastvold) Hegreberg. He graduated from Borup High School in 1957 and furthered his education at NDSU briefly, before transferring to Moorhead State College. While at Moorhead State, Marshall met the love of his life, Janet Hershey, and the couple were united in marriage on June 8, 1963, at Grace Methodist Church in Moorhead. Marshall worked at Phillips 66 Gas Station while going to school and later worked with Sunshine Biscuits and Wisconsin Electric. The Hegreberg family moved to Marshall’s family farm in 1969, where he raised and milked dairy cattle, also beef cattle, and hogs. From 1990-1995, Marshall also worked at Palliser Furniture in Fargo.

Along with farming, Marshall enjoyed working with wood – whether it was fixing or making things, and later on making cabinets. His time farming brought out his love for older tractors and machinery – mainly Allis Chalmers. For many years, Marshall and Janet were 4H Leaders for the OB Jolly and Sunrisers youth in Norman County. Marshall would go out of his way to help neighbors and friends and was loved for his quiet, friendly personality. He was a caring husband, father, and grandfather and will be greatly missed by his loved ones.

Marshall is survived by his wife of 59 years, Janet; children, Kelby Lane, Keyla Lyne, and Korey Lann; five grandchildren, Cody, Alea, Adeline, Coltin, and Kiera; four great-grandchildren; siblings, JoAnn Elmer, Barbara Hill, and Wesley Hegreberg; and many special friends and neighbors. Marshall was preceded in death by his parents.

A memorial service will be held Sunday, December 11, 2022, at the Anderson Family Funeral Home in Twin Valley at 2:00 pm, with a visitation starting one hour prior.
