Marvin “Buddy” Schear – Obit

Marvin “Buddy” Schear of Mentor, MN passed away on Saturday, August 6, 2022 at Sanford Hospital in Fargo, ND.

Funeral service will be held on Friday, August 12, 2022 at 7:00 PM prayer service at Johnson Funeral Service in  Red Lake Falls, MN with Reverend Jeffrey Lytle officiating. Burial will be held on Sunday, August 14, 2022 at 2:00 PM in Rosehill Cemetery near Mentor, MN.

Visitation will be held starting at 4:00 PM until the time of service on Friday.

Marvin “Buddy” Charles Schear was born March 31, 1938 son of Adam and Myrtle (Schultz) Schear in Red Lake Falls Township, Red Lake county, MN. He was raised in Red Lake County and attended school at Prairie Queen School in Terrebonne Township and Mentor High School.

Marvin entered the US Army in 1961 and served until his discharge in 1967 from the Army Reserves 596th Quartermasters Co.

He farmed on the home farm, worked for Dragseth Farms, drove truck for numerous farms and trucking companies, worked seasonal for Northern Tank Line hauling propane and other types of fuel. He worked for Thorson Construction as driver and crusher plant operator until his retirement. He came out of retirement and went to work at the Solar Gas Plant near Mentor.

On January 22, 1966 he was united in marriage to Darlene Farden at St. John Lutheran Church in Red Lake Falls, MN. To this union sons were born Mark and Bradley.

Bud enjoyed spearing during the winter and angeling during the summer, hunting, yard work, brunch on Sundays, attending auctions, gun shows and tractor pulls. He served on the Rosehill Cemetery Board, and was a member of the American Legion Post 421 of Mentor.

Marvin is survived by his sons Mark Schear and Bradley Schear of Mentor; sister-in-law Ann Schear, brothers-in-law Gordon (Marilyn) Farden; Dale “Bumpy” (Diana) Erickson; numerous nieces and nephews.

Marvin is preceded in death by his parents, wife Darlene, siblings, Glen Schear, Laurel (Betty) Schear, Evelyn (Arthur) Olson, Chester Schear, and Lois Erickson: sister-in-law Beverly (R.O.) Lindsey, Barbara (Duane) Myhre; brothers-in-law Bernard (Marie) Farden, Richard Farden; niece Debbie Schear.
