Marvin Virgil Reierson – Obit

Marvin Virgil Reierson, 83, of Federal Dam, MN, passed away Sunday morning, December 26, 2021, in Sanford Bemidji Medical Center with family at his side.

Marvin was born in Sleepy Eye, MN on October 8, 1938, to Henry and Hulda (Bendtsen) Reierson. He attended school in Sleepy Eye before going to work for the Minnesota Transportation Department doing road construction. He later was employed as a carpenter, building and remodeling homes for several years. Marvin was united in marriage to Verla Carlson and three children were born to their union: Craig, Gail, and Guy. After operating a dairy farm near Milaca for a few years the couple partnered with their son, Craig, in 1985 to purchase the Spider Web Resort and Supper Club on Spider Lake near Nevis, MN. After they sold the business Marvin moved to Federal Dam where he was an independent trucker until retirement.

Marvin loved spending time with his kids, grandchildren, and friends. He was an avid gardener and enjoyed tending his tomatoes and other vegetables and then sharing his produce with family and friends. Marvin took great pride in his gardens and his yard. He also enjoyed the outdoors, whether it was hiking, fishing, or camping. Some of our most memorable times were fishing on Leech Lake in Marvin’s boat. He loved being out on the water and would often compliment the scenery and say if we caught fish it was just a bonus. Marvin was a wonderful brother, father, grandpa, and friend. His memory will live on forever in our hearts.

Marvin leaves to mourn his passing a son and daughter-in-law, Guy and Karen Reierson of Climax, MN; daughter and son-in-law, Gail and Paul Probach of Mass City, MI; 8 grandchildren: Zach Antolak of Elk River, MN, Brent Reierson of St. Paul, MN, Brandon Reierson of Cavalier, ND, Kaylee Reierson of Fargo, ND, Cameron Carlson of Cambridge, MN, Chase (Megan) Carlson of Mora, MN, Amy (Isaiah) Landis of Fridley, MN, and Megan Probach of Blaine, MN; a sister, Sylvia Anderson of Greencastle, PA; other family members; and friends. Marvin was preceded in death by his parents; son, Craig Reierson, who passed away a few days before on December 22nd; and his former wife, Verla Carlson Reierson.

A memorial service for both Marvin and his son, Craig, will be held at 2:00 p.m., Friday, February 4, 2022, in the Stenshoel-Houske Funeral Home, Crookston, with visitation for one hour prior to the service. The service will be livestreamed by going to Marvin’s obituary page at www.stenshoelhouske.com and clicking on the prompt to view.
