MAYOR TO PROPOSE COMMITTEE AND COMMISSION ASSIGNMENTS AT TONIGHT’S WAYS & MEANS

The Ways & Means Committee will meet following City Council Monday, January 14 in the council chambers at City Hall.

The agenda begins by amending or approving the January 7 meeting report.  The next topic is Street Assessment rates, where Public Works reports the current $35 rate per abutting foot falls below the recommended assessment rate for reconstruction of 20 percent.  Staff is recommending an increase to $40 per abutting foot.

Next on the agenda is Mayor Guy Martin’s recommendations for assignments to boards and commissions, including a few that will need to ratified by the council.

The Parks Department is requesting authority to purchase a mower that has been included in their capital improvement plan.  If purchased by the end of January, they will get a 20% discount on the John Deer 1575 TerrainCut at $43,717.40.  They also wish to ask the committee to consider allowing a second mower to be purchased with reserves, as they are currently running one mower short.  The final item on the agenda is an update from a Pool Transition Team representative.
