Mervyn Larson – Obit

Mervyn Larson, age 85, of Twin Valley, MN, died Tuesday, June 1, 2021, at the Sanford Medical Center, Fargo, ND.

Mervyn Leroy Larson was born on November 1, 1935, in West Fargo, ND, to Anton and Clara (Soderlund) Larson. At the age of 9, his parents moved to a farm near Twin Valley. Mervyn attended school in Twin Valley. He worked as a hired hand for a neighbor. On December 21, 1957, he married Elizabeth (Nohr) of Gary, MN. The couple was blessed with three sons and one daughter. Mervyn worked for Hanson Brothers in Ada, MN, for some time. In 1965, he purchased his father’s farm due to his father’s declining health. Mervyn loved milking cows, raising pigs and chickens, gardening, and enjoyed watching his flowers bloom every season. In 1985, he sold his cattle and began working for Clay Visser in Ada, MN, where he worked for over 20 years. He will be missed by all who knew him.

Mervyn is survived by his wife, Elizabeth; four children; Mervyn Jr. (Clarene), Robin (Paula), James (Kim), Kathryn (Dawn) Larson-Fritz; 11 grandchildren; Tracy, Chad, Mandie, Maggie, Tony, Stacey, Kathy, Julie, Eilies, Kelly, and Erin; 35 great grandchildren; 3 great-great grandchildren; 2 sisters, Rebecca Crane, and Juleann Ward; and several sisters-in-law and brothers-in law. He is preceded in death by his parents, Anton and Clara; and a brother, Jack.

Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, June 5, 2021, at Zion Lutheran Church, Twin Valley.  Visitation will take place on Friday, June 4, 2021, from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m., with a prayer service beginning at 6:30 p.m. at the church.

Following all Covid-19 safety protocols, CDC guidelines will be followed.
