James Leroy Maurseth – OBIT

James “Jim” Leroy Maurseth, 80, Ada, MN, passed away on Sunday, November 12, 2023, at Essentia Hospital in Fargo, ND.

James Leroy Maurseth was born on October 7, 1943, to Torfen and Norma (Christenson) Maurseth in Northwood, ND. Jim graduated from Northwood High School and joined the National Guard after. He worked at the Kindred Elevator for many years but also worked various other jobs. Jim was united in marriage to Mary Hiltwein on September 17, 1982, in Sisseton, SD. In 1996, Jim and Mary moved to Ada, MN, and made it their home. They loved to take trips to Deadwood, SD and enjoyed time with great friends they had met over the years.

Jim is survived by his daughter, Jamey (Patrick) Donovan, and two grandchildren, Sean and Shannon, all of Maiden, NC; sister, Marlys Alexson, Coon Rapids, MN; step-children, Robert (Brenda) Hiltwein, Fargo, ND; Ralph (Yolanda) Hiltwein, Florida; Michelle (Jeff Eberhardt) Robertsdahl, Fargo, ND; and Mellonie (Todd Torfin) Budke, South Dakota; many step-grandchildren and step-great-grandchildrenstep-great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.

He is preceded in death by his wife, Mary Maurseth; parents, Torfen and Norma; brother, Lyle; sister, Audrey (Norman) Mandt; and brother-in-law, Richard Alexson.

Memorial Service is on Friday, December 1, at 1:00 PM at Fredrikson-Ganje Funeral Home in Ada, MN. Visitation will be one hour before the memorial service at the funeral home. Inurnment will be at Augustana Lutheran Cemetery in rural Halstad, MN.
