MINAKWA GOLF COURSE OPENS FOR MASTERS WEEKEND

Minakwa Golf Course opened up on Thursday to a rainy day, but that was needed to combat the dry conditions. Jess Ross said they are excited to get people out at the course this weekend. “We’re excited to be open for the season,” said Ross. “It is a little chilling and rainy today but hopefully the weekend brings a little better weather. We are excited to have a little rain though. We definitely need that so the course will green up. We’re already thinking Monday and Tuesday we might not be open because it possibly might now. So, you can plan us not being open Monday and Tuesday, but we’re excited to at least be open for the weekend.”

Ross said the course held up well through the winter and now they just need things to turn green. “It still is a little brown, but the green is starting to show through,” said Ross. “That’s exciting and hopefully, it just keeps greening up.”

The hope is the return of more tournaments in 2021, and the kitchen will have a larger menu again this summer. “We do have a few already on the books,” said Ross. “And we’ll definitely hold our three Minakwa (tournaments) – Memorial Day, Fourth of July, and Labor Day. Hopefully, we can get a few more in there too. We will be opening the kitchen this year. We’re excited (Jess’s sister) Jas (Staehnke) is back to do the food, so we’ll have a little bit more to offer than we did last year. We’ll have the kitchen open Memorial Day to Labor Day.”

Ross encouraged people to stop by the golf course this weekend. “The Masters are on this weekend,” said Ross. “We have new TVs in the clubhouse, so you can come by and check out the Masters on the new TVs, say hi, and we’ll be here all weekend.”
