The Minnesota Department of Natural Resources will be offering weekly webinars in the month of May on walleye and bass fishing basics, and other topics. The webinars are for anyone who wants to supercharge their outdoor skills and know more about how to enjoy the outdoors in Minnesota is invited to join a new weekly webinar series with facts, fun, tips, and tricks.
The Minnesota Outdoor Skills and Stewardship Series from the Minnesota Department of Natural Resources aim to give participants quick, relevant information on upcoming seasons and events, and skills to help enjoy these opportunities. Each Wednesday at noon staff from the DNR and guest experts will spend 30 minutes discussing a variety of topics with time for questions at the end.
The courses are free, but participants are required to pre-register. Registration is available online. Webinar topics in May include:
Open water walleye fishing basics, May 5: Join Ray Ruiz, DNR hunting and fishing skills liaison, and large water angler Steve Robertson, as they discuss the ins and outs of catching our state fish!
Backwater Mississippi River kayaking, May 12: Join Linda Bylander, DNR Becoming an Outdoors Woman program coordinator, and Sara Holger, DNR state park naturalist, to learn about the a backwater kayak class from the Becoming an Outdoors Woman program, and to learn tips on kayaking the Mississippi backwaters.
Bass fishing basics, May 19: Join Ray Ruiz, DNR hunting and fishing skills liaison, as he walks us through his winning strategies for landing bass. The talk will cover bass-specific lures, strategies and how to land that lunker!
DNR’s Quality Sunfish Initiative, May 26: Join Dave Weitzel, DNR Grand Rapids area fisheries supervisor, and Kraig Kiger, DNR, as Weitzel explains the DNR’s Quality Sunfish Initiative. Everyone loves to catch a mess of sunnies, and the initiative is a way to keep the quality of our fisheries producing quality fish.
