MINOR INJURIES RESULT AFTER VEHICLE CRASHES INTO BUILDING IN GRAND FORKS

On Tuesday, October 8, at approximately 5:23 p.m., officers from the Grand Forks Police Department were called to the Bubble Laundry Company, 1401 12th Ave. South, for a report of a one-vehicle crash with the vehicle coming to rest partially in the building.  Multiple people were reported to be inside with several injuries.  Upon arrival, officers located a black 2007 Dodge Durango driven by 37-year-old Grand Forks resident Aurelie Mokambe resting inside the business.  A woman and her young son, who were sitting adjacent to the window the vehicle crashed through, suffered minor injuries.  They were treated on scene and released.  No other injuries were reported.  The building suffered significant damage.

Mokambe was cited for care required and unqualified operator.  Neither speed nor alcohol appear to be a factor in this crash.  The Grand Forks Police Department would like to take this time to remind all drivers to operate their vehicles in a safe and prudent manner at all times.

The Grand Forks Fire Department and Altru Ambulance Service also assisted in this incident.  If anybody has any further information regarding this incident, they are encouraged to contact the Grand Forks Police Department at 701-787-8000.
