MR. CHS WILL BE HELD SUNDAY AT CROOKSTON HIGH SCHOOL

The 22nd Annual Mr. CHS will be held this Sunday in the Crookston High School Auditorium. Crookston High School Student Council and Leo Club Advisor Linda Morgan said a lot of credit goes to Victoria Proulx, who has helped the contestants prepare the opening piece along with their skits and other talents. “We have seven contestants,” said Morgan. “I’m very excited about that. It will be on March 14 at 2 p.m. We’re getting everything ready. We’ve had a few practices with the boys’ talents and the opening number. I have to give Victoria Proulx a lot of credit. She’s the president of the student council and has worked with the boys a lot on different things.”

Each year has a theme, and this year’s opening number will have a dinosaur theme and a variety of talents. “Our theme is The Dinosaurs,” said Morgan. “That’s what the boys came up with. We have an opening number with that. It’s going to be really cute. I got some masks for the boys. There is a guitar, trombone, maybe a magic act, some singing, a couple of skits for the talents. They all have something different that they will be doing. It’s always entertaining. This is my third year, and the boys always have fun doing it. And we’ve got some nice prizes from our wonderful businesses here in town to give to the boys.”

All the contestants are seniors, and Mr. CHS 2020 will also return to belt the champion on Sunday. “Our contestants for this year are Noah Kiel, Easton Tangquist, Jacob Miller, Gabe Montieth, Lucas Winger, Karsten Isaacson, and Andrew MacGregor,” said Morgan. “Our 2020 Mr. CHS Walker Winjum will also be back to put the belt on Mr. CHS 2021. It will be a lot of fun.”

Tickets are available for Mr. CHS; however, seating is limited. “I believe we can have about 130 people in here,” said Morgan. “I do have tickets for sale. The boys each got a dozen tickets each, and if they want more, they can get more. I have about 50 tickets in my office. If you want a ticket, let me know, and I’ll give you a ticket. You bring it to the door, pay your $5, and you’re good to go. That way its contact tracing for us too, and try to make it easy for the student council, myself, and people coming in. If anyone wants a ticket, let me know, and I can certainly put your name on it here too if you can’t come to get one.”

Those unable to get a ticket to watch in-person will be able to watch via a livestream. “Thanks to KROX, they’re going to livestream it again for us,” said Morgan. “We have one boy who may be out, but we’re going to work around that a little bit, so hopefully, he will be able to do that. I believe this is the 22nd year that Mr. CHS has been going on here at the high school. We’re very excited. They all have their talents ready to go.”

Morgan and the contestants will join Valley Talk on Wednesday, March 10 at 10:40 a.m.
