National Weather Service issues a Winter Storm Warrning for most of NW Minnesota and northcentral Minnesota through Saturday night

The National Weather Service has issued a Winter Storm Warning for most of northwest and north central Minnesota and a Winter Weather Advisory for far northwest Minnesota beginning at 7:00 p.m. Friday and running through 7:00 p.m. on Saturday with up to 12 inches of snow possible.

WINTER STORM WARNING
The National Weather Service has issued a Winter Storm Warning for most of northwest and north central Minnesota and eastern North Dakota starting Friday at 7:00 p.m. until Saturday at 7:00 p.m.

The Warning includes Polk, Pennington, Red Lake, Roseau, Norman, Roseau, Lake Of The Woods, East Marshall, Beltrami, Clearwater, Mahnomen, Clearwater, Hubbard, Becker, Otter Tail, and Wadena.

Including the cities of Crookston, East Grand Forks, Grand Forks, Red Lake Falls, Thief River Falls, Bemidji, Lake Itasca, Fosston, Red Lake, Roseau, Newfolden, Two Inlets, Fergus Falls, New York Mills, Bagley, Detroit Lakes, Wadena, Park Rapids, Mahnomen, Baudette, Warroad, Goodridge, and Middle River.

* WHAT…Heavy snow expected. Total snow accumulations between 4 and 9 inches.
* WHEN…From 7 PM this evening to 7 PM CDT Saturday.
* IMPACTS…Travel will be very difficult to impossible.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS…
If you must travel, keep an extra flashlight, food, and water in your vehicle in case of an emergency. The latest road conditions for the state you are calling from can be obtained by calling 5 1 1.

The forecast for Crookston and the immediate listening area is below-
This Afternoon -A 20 percent chance of snow after 4pm. Mostly cloudy, with a high near 37. East northeast wind around 11 mph.
Tonight -Snow, possibly mixed with rain, becoming all snow after midnight. The snow could be heavy at times. Low around 30. Northeast wind around 8 mph. Chance of precipitation is 90%. New snow accumulation of 3 to 7 inches possible.
Saturday – Snow, mainly before 2pm. The snow could be heavy at times. Patchy blowing snow after 2pm. High near 33. North northeast wind 9 to 17 mph. Chance of precipitation is 90%. New snow accumulation of 3 to 5 inches possible.
Saturday Night– Partly cloudy, with a low around 24. Northwest wind 6 to 14 mph.
Sunday – A slight chance of snow before 10am, then a slight chance of rain. Partly sunny, with a high near 40. West wind 6 to 11 mph increasing to 13 to 18 mph in the afternoon. Winds could gust as high as 28 mph. Chance of precipitation is 20%.

WINTER STORM ADVISORY
The National Weather Service has issued a Winter Weather Advisory for far northwest Minnesota and far northeastern North Dakota for Friday starting at 7:00 p.m. until Saturday at 7:00 p.m.  The advisory includes the following counties – Kittson, Marshall, Towner, Cavalier, Pembina, Benson, Ramsey, and Walsh.

The advisory includes the cities of Stephen, Argyle, Warren, Hallock, Drayton, Leeds, Devils Lake, Lankin, Grafton, Cando, Langdon, and Cavalier.

…WINTER WEATHER ADVISORY NOW IN EFFECT FROM 7 PM THIS EVENING TO 7 PM CDT SATURDAY…
* WHAT…Snow expected. Total snow accumulations between 1 and 6 inches.
* WHEN…From 7 PM this evening to 7 PM CDT Saturday.
* IMPACTS…Plan on slippery road conditions.
