The National Weather Service in Grand Forks has issued a Winter Storm Watch for portions of northwest Minnesota and eastern North Dakota from late Wednesday night through Thursday night.
The watch includes the following counties – Polk, Norman, Pennington, Red Lake, Eddy, Nelson, Grand Forks, Griggs, Steele, Traill, and Barnes. It includes the Minnesota cities of Crookston, East Grand Forks, Ada, Twin Valley, Halstad, Thief River Falls, Red Lake Falls, Fosston, Fertile, McIntosh, and Erskine. It includes the North Dakota cities of New Rockford, Lakota, Mcville, Aneta, Tolna, Grand Forks, Cooperstown, Finley, Hope, Mayville, Hillsboro, Hatton, Portland, and Valley City.
* WHAT…Heavy snow possible. Total snow accumulations of 5 to 8 inches possible. Winds could gust as high as 35 mph. In addition to snow, a wintry mix will be possible.
* WHERE…Portions of northwest Minnesota and east North Dakota.
* WHEN…From late Wednesday night through late Thursday night.
* IMPACTS…Travel could be very difficult. The hazardous conditions could impact the morning or evening commute. Wintry mix may lead to a light glaze of ice.
