NEW HOPE FOOD SHELF TO PROVIDE FOOD DROPS FOR KIDS AND FAMILIES IN ALL WARDS BEGINNING WEDNESDAY

The New Hope Food Shelf will be holding a food drop for dinner Mondays through Fridays from 6:00-6:30 p.m. at the following locations: Highland Park Complex (Barrette Street/Central Avenue) and Crookston Public Library parking lot (North Ash Street). ORIGINAL STORY

The New Hope Food Shelf’s food drop program began Wednesday, March 18 and will offer lunch and dinner through Friday for kids and families in need until the Crookston School District starts their food service program Monday, March 23. After the schools’ breakfast and lunch program begins, the food drop program will switch to dinners Monday through Friday plus Food Shelf Coordinator Rachel Laferriere says anyone in need of food for the weekend can get a box from the food shelf.

Tri-Valley’s T.H.E. Bus will also offer free rides to and from the food shelf for the next three weeks.

Lunch will be served from 12-12:30 p.m.
Dinner from 6-6:30 p.m.

Ward 1: REM Parking Lot (S Minnesota Ave/Central Ave) and Eugen Field Park (Woodland Ave/N Minnesota St)
Ward 2: Schuster Park (Memorial Drive/Groveland Ave) and Washington School parking lot (Birch St)
Ward 3: Highland Park Complex (Barrette St/Summit Ave) and North Acres Estates entrance (Charles St)
Ward 4: Wildwood Park (Myrtle St/Hurlbut St/Bertha St) and Crookston Public Library parking lot (N Ash St)
Ward 5: Carman Park (3rd Ave S/Erskine St) and Museum Park (Washington Ave/Jerome St)
Ward 6: Alexander Park (Alexander St/4th Ave NE) and Wesley United Methodist Church parking lot (Barrette St/Eickhof Blvd)

Volunteers are needed to help pick up food and hand out food at the drop sites.  Contact Rachel for more information or signup directly on the New Hope Food Shelf Facebook page.

Donations are also being accepted to help make sure enough families are being fed.  They will accept gift cards for Hugo’s and Walmart, as well as bags and boxes for the food that will be delivered, and gloves and masks for volunteers.  People can also donate and make food such as bars, cookies, sandwiches, casseroles, juice boxes, etc.
