North Star 4-H Club packs 254 meal kits for the community

North Star 4-H Club packed 254 meal kits to help with food insecurity in their community! Support for the project was made possible by a community donor and Minnesota 4-H through the Food Partner Challenge Grant, which is sponsored by Compeer Financial and generous donors to the Minnesota 4-H General Fund. The club also partnered with North Country Food Bank to purchase as much food as economically feasible.

4-H members were in charge of planning a variety of meals from non-perishable items, staying within budget when shopping, picking up the food, packing each grab-and-go meal kit, and delivering them to Highland Elementary School for distribution. North Star 4-H is grateful for the partnership with Mrs. Tara Miller-Rodriguez, school mental health provider, who ensures meals are distributed confidentially when needs are identified. 4-H members also decided to create 12 Birthday kits, which included cake mix and the ingredients to prepare it, frosting, candles, and a birthday card to help spread cheer for birthday celebrations. 4-H members were excited to help kids and their families in their local community and are thankful for all the assistance with the project.

North Star 4-H Club members would like to thank the community donors, Minnesota 4-H, North Country Food Bank, and Highland School for the partnerships to make this project possible. If you would like to financially support this project in the future, please contact Tara at Highland School or any member of the North Star 4-H Club.
