The National Weather Service in Grand Forks, North Dakota has issued a Winter Storm Watch for northwest Minnesota and eastern North Dakota from late Thursday night through Friday afternoon. The information on the watch is below.
The watch includes the Minnesota cities of Crookston, East Grand Forks, Ada, Twin Valley, Halstad, Hallock, Karlstad, Lancaster, Roseau, Warroad, Greenbush, Warren, Stephen, Argyle, Newfolden, Middle River, Grygla, Thief River Falls, Red Lake Falls, Fosston, Fertile, McIntosh, and Erskine.
The North Dakota cities of Cando, Langdon, Cavalier, Walhalla, Drayton, Pembina, Neche, St. Thomas, Fort Totten, Maddock, Leeds, Minnewaukan, Devils Lake, Grafton, Park River, New Rockford, Lakota, Mcville, Aneta, Tolna, Grand Forks, Cooperstown, Finley, Hope, Mayville, Hillsboro, Hatton, Portland, Edinburg, Adams, and Lankin.

* WHAT…For the Wind Chill Advisory, very cold wind chills are expected. Wind chills as low as 40 below zero. For the Winter Storm Watch, blizzard conditions are possible. Total snow accumulations of up to two inches possible. Winds could gust as high as 60 mph.
* WHERE…Portions of northwest Minnesota and northeast and east-central North Dakota.
* WHEN…For the Wind Chill Advisory, from 8 PM this evening to noon CST Thursday. For the Winter Storm Watch, from late Thursday night through Friday afternoon.
* IMPACTS…Plan on slippery road conditions. Widespread blowing snow could significantly reduce the visibility. The hazardous conditions could impact the Friday morning and evening commutes. The dangerously cold wind chills could cause frostbite on exposed skin in as little as 10 minutes.
* ADDITIONAL DETAILS…Gusty south winds may combine with falling snow Thursday night to cause low visibilities. However, the strongest winds are expected on Friday, behind the cold front. Wind gusts up to 60 mph are possible, especially in open country along and west of the Red River Valley.
