Paws Hoofs Claws is providing a home service for small and large animals allowing them to stay in their home. Karen Busch, a former teacher, provides basic care for bets such as walking, running and snuggling for pets. For larger farm animals, she provides help with seasonal animal work and daily chores for farms in need of her assistance. “I’m not a sitter, but I’ll come in for one to four visits a day, based on what the client knows their pet needs,” says Busch. “There is love involved on the floor or couch, I’m a runner, so I can walk or run with the pet, give them treats, or wet/dry food.”
Busch will also bathe pets, give them their medicine, and other services as lined up individually with each client. With farm animals Busch lists helping with chores, being trained as an emergency worker for last minute issues, assisting with grooming or barn duty among her list of services.
“A lot of my clients have dogs or cats, but they also have horses,” said Busch. “A lot of clients have said that in the past they would have to have someone come in for their dogs and someone else for their horses.”
Busch, who grew up with a cat, dogs, and a horse, holds an orientation and training with each prospective client where they discuss the services, fill out paperwork, and the Busch and her employees get trained by the client in what their animal needs.
Paws Hoofs Claws provide their service over a six-county area of northwest Minnesota, from Fisher to Bemidji and Newfolden to Twin Valley. “My business is open every day of the year,” says Busch. “Holidays are especially nice for people if they are going to their grandma’s house and can’t bring the dogs along or on vacation.”
