On Tuesday, June 4 at around 11:49 a.m. officers were dispatched to S. 4th St. and Bruce Ave. in regards to a pedestrian being hit by a vehicle. Upon arrival, officers found a 39 yr. female on the sidewalk with leg injuries. The vehicle, a 2002 Chevrolet pickup was on the sidewalk against an iron railing.
The driver was Blaine Lorenzen, age 50 of Grand Forks. Investigation showed that the pickup was traveling south on S. 4th St. when it went onto the sidewalk on the southeast side of the intersection striking the pedestrian and the iron railing.
The pedestrian was taken to Altru Hospital by private vehicle. Her name is not being released pending notification to relatives.
Lorenzen was arrested for DUI, Possession of Marijuana Paraphernalia, Reckless Endangerment and Possession of Marijuana. Lorenzen was taken to Altru Hospital and then to the Grand Forks County Correctional Center. There was minor damage to the pickup and significant damage to the railing.
Assisting on the call was the Grand Forks County Sheriff’s Department, Fire Department, and Altru Ambulance.
