PEDESTRIAN STRUCK IN PARKING LOT HIT AND RUN IN GRAND FORKS

UPDATE: 1/15/20 2:50 p.m. 

On January 15, contact was made by a Grand Forks Police Department officer with the driver of the vehicle involved in the accident. The driver was Naomi Koehn, age 63 of Grafton, ND.   Koehn was cooperative and did not realize she had struck anyone.

She was driving a 2015 Honda CRV that didn’t sustain any damage.No charges or citations will be filed in this incident.

ORIGINAL REPORT

On Tuesday, January 14 at approximately 3:20 p.m. Officers from the Grand Forks Police Officers were dispatched to the parking lot of Hugo’s on 1750 32nd Ave. South for a report of a pedestrian struck by a vehicle with the striking vehicle leaving the scene. 

According to witnesses, the 87 year-old victim was walking through the parking lot when a white SUV similar to a Honda CRV was backing out of a parking spot and made contact with the victim causing the victim to fall to the ground and received a minor injury.  The striking vehicle then left the scene.  It appears the driver of the SUV did not see or notice they struck the victim.  The driver was described as an older white female. 

The victim was transported to Altru for minor non-life-threatening injuries.  The Police Department is still trying to locate and identify the driver and vehicle.
