Pine to Prairie Drug Task Force busts DMT lab in Warren

On Monday, April 6, Task Force Officers from the Pine to Prairie Drug Task Force assisted probation with a search in Warren.

During the search, a suspected dimethyltryptamine (DMT) lab was discovered.  DMT is a Schedule I hallucinogen and the manufacturing process is extremely flammable.  Agents located multiple jars of black liquid which the suspect claimed was in one of the final stages of DMT extraction.  She had intended to pour the (flammable) liquid into other containers later that day. A small amount of finished DMT product, as well as a small amount of methamphetamine, was also located.

The suspect, Carla Christene Swenson, was arrested for 1st Degree Controlled Substance Possession as well as 3rd Degree Possession of Methamphetamine in a park zone. Charges will ultimately be decided by the Marshall County Attorney’s Office.

The Pine to Prairie Drug Task Force is a Violent Crime Enforcement Team covering eight counties in northwest Minnesota. According to their mission statement, their priorities are the suppression of illegal narcotics and violent crime through the combined efforts of local, state, and federal agencies by actively pursuing illicit manufacturers, distributors, and violent offenders; to protect the safety, dignity, and property of our citizens through education and enforcement while maintaining public trust.

The Task Force has a “P2PTip” smartphone app that enables the public to share anonymous tips with officers and lets officers respond back to create an anonymous two-way conversation. Those without a smartphone can share information by sending an anonymous text tip by texting keyword P2PTIP and their message to 847411 (tip411).

Portions of the investigation are still ongoing, and no additional comments will be available.
