PIRATE BASEBALL SWEPT IN DOUBLE HEADER AT TRF

The Crookston Pirate Baseball team was swept by the Thief River Falls Pworlers 14-4 and 4-1 in a doubleheader played in Thief River Falls. 

GAME ONE –

FIRST INNING –
The first two batters for Crookston were retired before Alex Longoria singled.  The next batter struck out, and Crookston’s threat was over.
In the bottom of the inning, Thief River Falls got things going with a walk, a stolen base, another walk, and a run scored on a passed ball for a 1-0 lead. 

SECOND INNING –
Jackson Demarais was hit by a pitch to start the second inning.  After an out, Matt Contreras and Teagen Lubinski all walked, and Demarais scored on an error to tie the game at 1-1.
Thief River Falls started the second inning with back-to-back singles, and the next two batters popped out.  After an error loaded the bases, the next batter grounded out to first, and the game stayed tied at 1-1.

THIRD INNING –
In the top of the inning, Crookston’s Longoria singled again and was stranded.
Thief River Falls took advantage of an error, and after an out, the Prowlers doubled in a run which was followed by a single and another run scored for a 3-1 lead. 

FOURTH INNING –
Crookston got a two-out rally going in the top of the inning when Greyson Ecker singled, George Widman doubled, and Gavyn Hlucny singled to score two runs, and the Pirates tied the game at 3-3.
Thief River Falls took the lead back with three runs in the bottom of the inning after a Crookston error, a single, and a home run for a 6-3 lead.

FIFTH INNING-
Crookston had three walks in the fifth inning but didn’t take advantage of the free bases and was held scoreless in the inning.
Thief River Falls broke the game open in the bottom of the inning with six runs in the inning. The Prowlers had another home run, a double, two singles, and four walks to score the runs and took a 12-3 lead.

SIXTH INNING –
Crookston added a run in the top of the inning when Hlucny singled, Longoria walked, and Ethan Boll doubled to score a run to get within a 12-4 deficit.
Thief River Falls won the game with two runs in the inning. They had a single, and after the second out of the inning, they added another single, a walk, a hit batter, and another walk to win the game 14-4.

GAME TWO-

FIRST INNING-
Crookston was retired in 1-2-3 fashion.
Thief River Falls didn’t waste any time as Joe Kelly doubled with one out.  The next Prowler singled, and a run scored on a groundout.  The next batter singled in a run, and Kennett Kezar doubled to score another run, and Jaxon Harms singled in another run, and the Prowlers led 4-0.

SECOND INNING-
The first two Pirate batters were retired before Matt Contreras singled, but the next batter popped out. The Prowlers were retired in 1-2-3 fashion.

THIRD INNING-
Greyson Ecker started the inning with a walk, and Jack Doda singled before the next two batters were retired. The Prowlers had a one-out single, but the next two batters were retired, and they led 4-0 after three innings.

FOURTH INNING-
Crookston finally got on the board in the fourth inning with an Alex Longoria solo homerun to bring the Pirates within a 4-1 deficit.  The first two batters were retired before a hit batter, but the next batter popped out, and the Prowlers took a 4-1 lead into the final inning.

FIFTH INNING-
The first two batters were retired before Jack Doda walked.  The next Pirate batter was out, and that was the game as Thief River Falls won 4-1. 

Crookston drops to 2-10 on the year.
