PIRATE BOYS GOLF FINISH 9TH OUT OF 17 TEAMS AT BEMIDJI

The Crookston Pirate Boys golf team finished ninth place out of 17 teams at the Boys Section 8 Preview meet with a team score of 347. Fertile-Beltrami won the meet with a 327, three strokes better than Hawley.  “I think today was one of our better team outings of the year,” said Pirate Coach Steve Kofoed.

Section 8A and 8AA Boys and Girls golf tournaments are held at Bemidji Town and Country Club, so it was a mix of Section 8A and 8AA teams competing.

Crookston was led by Garrett Fischer as the sophomore shot an 81, good for 10th place individually. Fischer had two birdies, nine pars, and four bogies for his best scores. “He hit the ball great but had a couple of unforced errors which hurt him on a few holes,” said Coach Kofoed.

Evan Shockman had the best round of his career as he turned in an 85. The sophomore had seven pars, nine bogies, and two double bogies for a consistent round. “Evan had a very good round,” said Coach Kofoed.
Tate Hamre had a solid round with an 89. Hamre had five pars and 11 bogies for his best scores. He also had a double bogey, and the one hole that hurt his score a bit was a quadruple bogey. “Tate had a great round going until the final hole or so,” said Coach Kofoed.
Brannon Tangquist turned in a 92. The senior had six pars and five bogies for his top scores.
David Dauksavage had one of his best rounds of the year while turning in a 99. The sophomore had one par and eight bogies for his top scores. “David breaking 100 in his first look at Bemidji Town and Country Club was awesome,” said Coach Kofoed.
Ashton Shockman putted well but struggled with the drive and just couldn’t lock it in and turned in a 104. “Ashton was the only one that was really frustrated,” said Coach Kofoed. “He struggled to hit the ball but was pleased with how he was putting. Feeling good about putting is the number one factor at Bemidji, so I could see him dropping 15 strokes on Monday.
