The Crookston Pirate Girls Golf team finished sixth place at the 13 team Staples-Motley Invite played at par 72 Vintage Golf Course near Staples. Crookston shot a 385 and Alexandria won the invite with a 355, five strokes better than Bemidji. “It was a tough course with a lot of penalties,” said Pirate Coach Jeff Perreault. “They had blind drives, a lot of water and it was a nice, but tough course and that showed in the scores. It was a beautiful day and there were trees everywhere so we weren’t affected to much by the wind.”
Crookston was led by Dani Boyle with a 90. Dani’s score was good for 10th place individually. “She is golfing well, just not as well as she would like to be golfing,” said Coach Perreault. “She went in the water three times so a 90 was pretty good considering everything.” Joslynn Leach was one stroke behind Boyle with a 91, good for 11th place individually. “She four-putted 18. She was in the bunker on her third shot and then four-putted, so that hurt to end a good round,” said Coach Perreault. “She just missed getting a medal so that was tough, but she really golfed well until that last hole.”
Crookston will head to Roseau for the Ram Invitational on Monday.
